Only those who have surrendered their lives to Christ and are prepared to participate. 1 Corinthians 11:29 (NLT) Once a person has made Jesus the King of their lives, they are welcome to participate at the Lord’s table, no matter what age they are.

Scripture does not tell us. Some churches do it weekly, others quarterly. Here at Walnut Hill, we have chosen to observe it at least monthly in our weekend services.

We believe that parents and grandparents are the primary influencers and educators of their children’s faith. If your child has not yet given their life to Jesus, this gives you the opportunity to explain why we remember Jesus in this way. It becomes a teachable moment to share about the sacrifice Jesus made for each one of us, and a practice for all those who have surrendered to Jesus. Our usual practice will be to pass out the communion elements and encourage you as the parent/grandparent to determine whether your child is ready to take the elements. If they are not, simply take the elements for yourself and share with your child why you are receiving communion and what it means to you.

We serve wheat crackers and grape juice during the Lord’s Supper. If you have a true medical condition that prevents you from eating gluten, please indicate your needs when prompted by the ushers in the service and a gluten-free option will be provided.
